Accounting Career Education (ACE) Program Report |
The following is a report on TSCPAs accounting career education (ACE)
program activities and efforts for the 2004-2005 fiscal year:
-
TSCPA distributed updated ACE manuals to chapter executive directors and
chapter career awareness contacts (if known) in those chapters that elected to
participate in this years program. These manuals are designed to simplify
the implementation of the ACE program at the chapter level.
-
TSCPA mailed solicitation letters and ACE program brochures to the
chapter-selected schools across the state. Fifteen chapters selected schools.
Approximately 1,200 solicitation letters were mailed.
-
TSCPA added information about AICPAs PBS videos, Business Building Blocks
and Pennywise, to the educator section of the online Student Lounge.
-
In 2004-2005, TSCPA received over 160 requests from members and educators for
speakers and/or materials. Over 11,000 career guides and over 300
iPACKs were distributed.
-
TSCPA sent a letter to members who work for school districts. This letter
promoted the iPACK and CPA guest speakers for classroom visits.
-
The Fort Worth, San Antonio, Southeast Texas, and Permian Basin chapters held
volunteer training sessions.
-
The Accounting Education Foundation generously agreed to fund the purchase of
CPA iPACKs for the 2004-2005 fiscal year.
-
TSCPA awarded four student members with $250 tuition/book reimbursements
courtesy of the Accounting Education Foundation. The winners were selected
through a random drawing of eligible members.
-
TSCPA now sends a quarterly high school educator e-newsletter. This
e-communication promotes resources and materials that are available from TSCPA
and AICPA.
-
TSCPA shares an ACE program idea with chapters each month in the chapter
e-newsletter.
-
Postcards were mailed in January to chapter-selected schools. This mailing
reminded educators to call on TSCPA for guest speakers and materials in the
spring semester.
-
TSCPA held three high school educator conferences in the spring. The
conferences were held in Dallas (Southern Methodist University), East Texas
(Stephen F. Austin University) and Rio Grande Valley (University of Texas
; Pan American). Over 100 educators attended the 2005 conferences.
